Cal Fish & Wildlife has released footage of the latest addition to California’s only wolf pack. The footage was caught on trail cameras in Lassen County this past June.

“This remote video capture shows a female adult, a yearling, and three pups walking through coniferous woods in Lassen County. At 1:00, the pups can be heard yipping and then howling.”

Wolves are protected under California’s Endangered Species Act even as the federal Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed to delist grey wolves as an endangered species.

In 2011, a grey wolf with a radio collar named OR-7 crossed the California border from Oregon and became the first wolf in the state since 1924.
