If you have 13 minutes to spare I highly suggest you watch this little surf/travel/environmental documentary presented by the good folks over at Patagonia. Isla Alejandro Selkirk is remote, in fact it was previously known as Más Afuera (English translation Farther Out). It previously served as a penal settlement for criminals and political prisoners and is now home to 57 people per a 2012 census. Not you average surf trip. Dope.
