According to the Aspen Times, founder of Virtika, David Lesh, is entangled in an investigation by The U.S. Forest Service after he posted pictures of himself snowmobiling on designated wilderness land atop Independence Pass in Colorado.

“We’ve been given information about the possible identifications of the people,” White River National Forest Supervisor Scott Fitzwilliams said.

Photos of Lesh were published on Virtika Facebook with the caption “@davidlesh sledding today on Independence Pass on Independence Day.”

On Lesh’s personal Instagram account (which has more than 36,000 followers) he posted the same photos and wrote: “Independence Pass on Independence Day. That’s a first.”

Snowmobile are never allowed in wilderness areas, where all motorized and mechanized uses are prohibited.

Lesh is no stranger to controversy. Official marketing material for his clothing line has included video clips, such as shooting guns from moving cars, which have lead to him being questioned by authorities.
