Taking a cue from ski resorts,  one bike park in Norway is now hiring trail patrollers to keep riders safe and trails maintained. Norway’s Trysil Bike Arena’s new Trail Patrol is the first of its kind.

The team consists of four full-time employees who will ride through the park during hours of operation in-order to provide assistance as well as tend to any injured riders.  The Trail Patrol will also work to maintain trail conditions which will include keeping the trails free of fallen trees and debris, repairs to brake bumps and features, and reshape jumps and berms.

What the patrol will not be doing is enforcing rules or create strict regulations.  Like much of Europe, Norway has Right to Roam laws that allow anyone to enjoy any part of the forest as they wish, so long as they are not harming the environment.

The owners of Trysil, located roughly 2.5 hours north of Oslo,  aims to open the sport of mountain biking to a much wider demographic of Norwegians. They see the patrol as a way to help easy new riders onto the trails. There are over 100km of natural trails around the park for folks who want to explore and ride outside the flow.
