Like a slow moving freight train this 2012 avalanche at the French ski resort Saint François Longchamp had incredible destructive power despite its speed. Dozens of skiers were on the chairlift when the avalanche struck but thankfully no injuries were reported at the time. The stranded skiers were eventually winched to safety by helicopter.
