There must be a ton of dough in premium mountain bikes because mega-retailer Walmart just jumped headlong into the industry with the launch of Viathon Bikes.

Walmart already sold pretty high-end mountain bikes from market place sellers ($4,000 Mongoose) but the launch of an in house brand on par with what you might find on the in the window of bike store in the mountains could be quite disruptive to the industry.The M.1 | XX1 Eagle is listed for $6,000.

Time will tell Viathon’s effect on the industry at large but they appear legit and if they have full support from the world’s largest company by revenue (over $500 billion in 2018) you may be seeing quite a few of these on trails near you:
