ALTA is looking for the unidentified skier who collided with a woman on the mountain and did not stop to render aid, as is required by a town ordinance. The incident happened on Colin’s Face on March 28th around 2p.m. The unidentified skier was at fault in the collision.
The woman who was visiting from Washington, D.C., sustained injuries to her ribs and arms. When she got to the hospital her injuries were discovered to be “pretty significant” according to Alta Marshal Mike Morey.
The unidentified skier is believed to have been wearing a rust-colored helmet, possibly a digital print camouflage coat and Dijon-colored ski pants. Marshall Morey said some “video components” are being looked into by Alta Ski Area to identify the skier in question.
It’s a Class B misdemeanor in the Town of Alta to hit another skier and not stop to render aid and punishable by up to a $1,000 fine and a maximum of six months in jail.
Hopefully the person responsible for the accident fess up but the next best thing would be for someone who witnessed the collision to contact the Marshal’s Office and identify the offending skier.
