VIDEO: I-70 Avalanche Sends Massive Snow Plumes Onto Highway

“It was not a controlled slide. It was a natural avalanche.” -Colorado Department of Transportation

A massive naturally triggered avalanche was caught on camera charging through Ten Mile Canyon at Interstate 70 on Sunday. The stretch of highway (about two miles before Copper Mountain) was covered in a snow cloud temporarily causing visibility issues for drivers but thankfully the debris field did not made it onto the roadway. FOX31 spoke with Jacob Easton who took the video:

“All of a sudden, me and my dad just saw a big white cloud to the left of us and we instantly noticed the avalanche. “It’s exciting, but pretty nerve wracking, because you don’t know when it’s going to stop.”
