Tragic news from Snowmass as the snowboarder who died while attempting a jump in Makaha Terrain Park Sunday has been identified as 20 year old Tyler Hamm. The New York Post reports the emergency call came in from someone who was riding a lift above the jump line and saw the impact. Ski patrollers found him unresponsive:
“They began advanced life-saving procedures. They were unable to re-establish a pulse and the man was pronounced by the Pitkin County Coroner. Our deepest sympathies and thoughts go out to the man’s family and friends, and we are offering support and assistance.” -Aspen Skiing Co. Spokesperon Jeff Hanle
Tyler was originally from North Carolina but moved to Aspen in 2017 to pursue his dream of living in the mountains. He most recently worked as a line cook at Lynn Britt Cabin, a slopeside restaurant on the mountain just above the terrain park.
Pitkin County Deputy Coroner Eric Hansen reports the cause and manner of death are pending investigation but confirms Hamm was not wearing a helmet at the time of the fatal accident. Condolences to Hamm’s family and friends.
