Tragedy struck Hunter Mountain, NY this weekend with the death of Brendan McCue, 27, of Little Falls. Hunter Mountain Ski Patrol was called to the scene of a accident at approximately 3:15 p.m., on Saturday.

It was reported that McCue had lost control and skidded off trail and struck a rock in the newly constructed trail system at Hunter North, the ski center’s most recent expansion.

Hunter North, which opened this season, includes five new trails and four new glades. The terrain is predominantly intermediate.

McCue was skiing with a group of students he attended college with. A toxicology test was done on McCue to determine whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. The findings have not yet been released.
