Yesterday morning, a number of gondola cars piled up at the Hochzillertal ski area in Austria. Six, 10-passenger gondolas on the “Wimbachexpress” collided due to high wind as a storm ranged in the area.
The gondola cars were empty at the time due to the strong wind. Thankfully no one was injured.

The Wimbachexpress replaced the previous quad chairlift “Krössbichl”. The Wimbachexpress is designed to carry up to 2600 people per hour.
Authorities and manufacturers representatives are investigating the cause.
