- 145″ forecasted for the summit of Mount Baker (*elevation — 10,762′)
A warm trough of moisture is pushing into the Northern Cascades today with rain forecasted below 6k feet until things cool off on Wednesday.
And although Mt Baker Ski Area will likely see more rain than snow out of this system, the storm itself should leave cold and snowy. Expect decent accumulations to continue to fill in the upper mountain. Hopefully, the storm is slightly colder than expected and big portions of the lower mountain snowpack stay intact. Fingers crossed.
The higher elevations on the other hand, such as Mount Baker proper, will get crazy snow totals out of this storm.

* Periods of heavy rain will continue through tonight. About five inches is forecast on the Skokomish River basin. This amount rain could drive the Skokomish River above flood stage tonight. Heavy rain in the north Cascades will also lead to the potential for flooding on the Nooksack River later tonight or Tuesday.
