When Glen Plake first embarked on the inaugural Down Home Tour,” a lot of people were skeptical. The challenge of bringing awareness to ski areas in places like West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin was not lost on anybody in the ski industry.

But the rebel was not deterred. Knowing that a ‘silent majority’ of skiers exist in these places, Plake went anyway and after making impromptu visits to some 100+ ski areas, the mohawked icon’s missionary trip was a huge success. He went where the forecast was favorable and the ski world rejoiced when the sport’s unofficial mascot came to their ski area to perform quintessentially Plake, ski-ballet moves at the base area.

The celebration returns this winter and a start date has yet to be scheduled. The forecast will dictate the route and Glen and likely his partner Kimberly will be making the trek through parts of the mid-west, mid-atlantic, and northeast.
