“The ski industry is certainly changing. With Vail Resorts and Alterra purchasing Steven’s Pass and Crystal Mountain Resort in just the last six months the effort to stay modern, current and relevant in terms of infrastructure is more important than ever.” -Josh Jorgensen

In effort to keep up with the Vail Resorts and Alterra, Washington State’s Mission Ridge is pursuing a sizeable ski hill expansion plan that includes additional parking, a new lodge, more beginner friendly terrain, updating all chairlifts, introducing nordic/snowshoeing/hiking trails, and onsite lodging.

The resort claims proposed improvements will double the resort’s employment base and double the resort’s economic impact on the area. All this while maintaining the small town vibe and a focus on careful stewardship of the land.

What are your thoughts as locals about the proposed plan? Do you support it or not? Let us know.
