Peak Resorts is making silent, saavy moves in the ski industry behind the backdrop of a noisy Ikon, Epic Pass battle that’s got everybody listening.

The mostly Northeast-based resort group just invested big in the mid-Atlantic, buying Snow Time for $76 million. Snow Time is a resort management company that includes Liberty Mountain Resort, Whitetail Resort, and Roundtop Mountain Resort. Throughout the 2017 season, the three ski areas accounted for approximately 600,000 skier-visits.

“Over the course of more than 50 years, Irvin Naylor and his team have established three exceptionally well cared for mountain resorts across the southern tier of Pennsylvania and we are delighted to welcome these wonderful facilities and the Snow Time team to the Peak Resorts family.” – Timothy D. Boyd, President and Chief Executive Officer of Peak Resorts

The three ski areas make up a paltry 325 skiable acres but what they lack in size they make up for in access to two big urban markets. Baltimore and Washington DC are just over an hour away. The estimated population of that metro area is somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 million.
