The Pangea Pod Hotel in Whistler, BC will be opening for it’s inaugural ski season. As far as we know, it’s the first pod hotel in a North American ski town.

The idea behind Pangea is to fill the gap between hostels and hotels by offering guests their own private sleeping space, be it a pod, while still offering the amenities of a hostel.

“Imagine you could stay in a boutique hotel in Whistler but only pay for the part of it you actually use. At Pangea, that’s what we’ve created – designer pod accommodation that’s affordable, central, and social. It’s a hub where guests can meet likeminded travellers, enjoy an espresso or craft beer in our Living Room, but still have their own personal space at the end of the day. Best of all, we put it right in the heart of Whistler’s iconic village, just a couple minutes stroll from Whistler Blackcomb’s gondolas.” – pangeapod.com

The hotel will feature a total of 88 private sleeping pods. Each pod will include high-end features such as wood lining, memory-foam mattress and quality linens.

So if your looking for accommodation that bridges the gap between luxury hotel and inexpensive hostel, that offers the privacy needed for a night’s rest, the social aspect of a hostel and a location right in the heart of the mountain resort, this might be worthy of a look.
