With every summer come reports of booby trapped mountain biking trails from around the world. This year, we’ve already seen one instance in England and now we have a second victim of such inhumane nonsense reported in South Africa.
Perhaps one of the most exotic trails in the world, The Table Mountain route outside Capetown was recently sabotaged with wire stretching across the trail at neck height. TableMountainBikers tweeted out a photo of the an unidentified rider who was thrown from his bike by the apparent booby-trap.
That’s what some people call trail sharing!A wire at neck height across a legal trail in the Glen.A calculated act to inflict maximum harm!Rider will lay criminal charges & we’ll find the culprit. @TableMountainNP @CapeTalk @AMA_TokaiMTB @TableMntnWatch pic.twitter.com/42O0uWkiF6

The victim, according to TableMountainBikers, will press charges if and when they find the culprit. Seriously though, I have a formula for this type of blog post now and that’s bizarre. Can’t we all just get along?
. @TableMountainNP rangers are on patrol and @SAPoliceService has been notified. We’re pretty sure the culprit lives in Camps Bay @CampsBayWatch @campsbaytourism @liezelv Somebody will know this person. pic.twitter.com/2HpFyxvh1h
