Professional skier Bryce Newcomb, who was injured in late March outside of Jackson Hole Ski Resort, has taken a “turn for the worst” according to family member.

On Monday Newcomb’s brother, Cole Newcomb released an update on social media:

“This is not the update I want to share but one that I must. Bryce’s status has taken a turn for the worst in rehab and he was admitted to the ER last Wednesday. There they took an MRI, a CT scan, and administered an EEG report, all of which indicate that he is beyond medicinal care. Doctors have removed his feeding and water tubes, and we are considering moving him to hospice.

My family and I are devastated to share this news. We are so appreciative of the outpouring of support we’ve received during this very difficult time, and now ask for privacy to grieve and process in the coming weeks. Bryce will be in Boise for those who want to visit. Please contact Patrick Cunningham with questions about visiting.”

Bryce has been moved from Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls to a long-term care facility in Boise, Idaho.

Since his accident a gofundme page set up for the skier has raised almost $130,000 for Newcomb’s recovery.

About the Accident

On March 27th, while ascending Cody Peak outside of Jackson Hole, a cornice below our good friend and brother Bryce Newcomb gave way and took him for a nasty fall down a large cliff face and tumbled roughly 1000’ vertical feet. Bryce suffered a severe head injury and was subsequently Life Flighted to the East Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
