You would think the largest firework ever set off would have happened at a New Year’s celebration in New York. Not the case.

In fact the largest firework is currently in the making courtesy of Steamboat Springs resident, Tim Borden. According to the Steamboat Pilot & Today, Borden hopes to light a proposed 62″ diameter, 2,400 pound shell at this upcoming Winter Carnival. He expects the exit velocity to reach upwards of 300 miles per hour.

Officials from the Guinness Book Of World Records will be on hand to verify the record. The former record is currently held by the Japanese, who launched a 52″ diameter shell in 2014.
