Scott Howard, 65, of Killington, VT is the new unofficial world record holder for the most vertical feet skied in a season. So far this season he has skied more than 6 million vertical feet!

To set the new world record Mr. Howard has been skiing 8-9 hours a day, every day, at Killington Ski Resort. He has been tracking his vertical digitally with an iPhone app called Trace and is aiming to get his achievement recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records for most vertical feet skied in one season.

According to mountaintimes.info, “He takes one quick hot chocolate break and one 15-to-20-minute lunch break. Other than that, he’s on the mountain all day.”

Thanks to a great winter in the east, Killington, VT plans to remain open until at least the end of May which should allow for Mr. Howard to rack up even more vert.

The current recognized world record for the most vertical feet skied in one season is 6,025,751 feet achieved by Canadian Pierre Marc Jette in Whistler, BC between 22 November 2014 and 10 May 2015.
