“Coloradans love their Subarus and so do car thieves, apparently.”
They might not be the sexiest cars on the road but Subarus make up in utility what they lack in glamour and Colorado has seen an uptick their thefts over the past few years. CBS Denver reports the number of Subarus stolen Colorado has risen every year since 2014 and is on track to do the same in 2017.
Here are the numbers:
2014
12,009 Statewide auto thefts
333 Statewide Subaru thefts
2015
15,070 statewide auto thefts
512 Subarus
2016
18,047 statewide auto thefts
792 Subarus
2017 (Year-To-Date)
9,420 statewide auto thefts
531 Subarus
So for all you Subi drivers out in Colorado, do what you can to protect yourself and be aware that Outback with the dented side panel and cracked windshield might be just what a car thief is looking for.
