“We learned that about 69% of a front range focus group say that the frequency of their I-70 trips has been reduced because of I-70 congestion.” -Director of I-70 Coalition Margaret Bowes

A new study conducted by CDOT has concluded that many skiers are opting out of heading to the mountain to avoid notorious I-70 congestion. There are few things that can knock you out of the serene headspace associated with a trip to the mountains quite like moving at a snails pace through bumper to bumper traffic on a highway designed to safely travel at 70+.

There is no easy answer on how to alleviate the congestion but as members the skiing public we can try to carpool as much as possible to reduce the number of vehicles on the road.

*If you were in public office, how would you approach the problem of I-70 ski traffic?
