Colorado had an up and down winter when it came to precipitation and with 4/5ths of the state’s water supply coming from snowmelt, hydrologists are tasked with making predictions as to how water supply will disseminate through the spring and summer months.

With Colorado currently experiencing a population boom, it is becoming increasingly important to forecast how much water is in that snowpack and exactly when it will reach it’s reservoirs. So important in fact, NASA is getting involved using advanced satellite measurements in concert with traditional on the ground data collecting techniques.
