20-year-old Zachary T. Thompson of Cream Ridge, New Jersey died in a skiing accident at Hunter Mountain in New York yesterday morning as reported by nj.com. A New York State Police press release says he was skiing along the Racers Edge double black diamond trail when he slid off course and crashed into trees.  Thompson was treated by Greene County paramedics and Hunter area ambulance personnel before being pronounced dead.

New York State Police press release:

“The State Police at Catskill are investigating the death of Zachary T. Thompson, age 20 from Cream Ridge, NJ, at Hunter Mountain Ski Center.  Thompson was skiing on the Racers Edge trail, a double black diamond (expert) trail on Hunter’s Mountain.  Thompson lost control and slid before leaving the trail and striking several trees.  Thompson was extricated by the ski patrol and then treated by Greene County Paramedics and Hunter area ambulance personnel before being pronounced deceased.  State Police are currently treating the matter as an accidental fall and do not suspect any foul play.  An autopsy is scheduled for a later date.”
