Edwin Wood, 58, of Warwick, New York was killed at Hunter Mountain in the Catskills region of upstate New York Wednesday morning according to thedailymail.net.

New York State Police report that the Orange Country man was skiing the Annapurna trail, an expert trail on Hunter’s west side when he reportedly lost control and slid 200ft, flying off the trail and slamming into several trees.

Wood was skiing with a companion that witnessed the fall and skied down to notify a liftie who in turn notified ski patrol. Wood was extricated by Hunter’s ski patrol and received medical treatment by Greene County paramedics and Hunter Ambulance personnel who performed CPR before Wood was pronounced dead at the scene. Police do not suspect foul play, an autopsy is planned today.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Wood’s family and friends.
