If you grew up playing pond hockey and enjoy the mountains, consider making a pilgrimage to Delta Lake in Wyoming. The lake sits at 9,016ft inside Grand Teton National Park. It’s only skateable for a tiny window before it’s covered with snow but if you to time it right, it makes for one badass trip:

“There’s a small, winter window when it’s cold enough for the lakes to freeze, yet early enough that they aren’t buried in snow. So in mid-November as we eagerly waited for flakes, we rallied a few friends on the Jackson Hole Moose hockey team and hiked in 4 miles to Delta Lake. At 9,016’ elevation, the frozen pond sits at the base of the Grand Teton and is perhaps the most beautiful place in the world for a little pick-up hockey.”
