Doug Abromeit seemed like the kind of guy we all want to be when we live in the mountains. Generous to the community and active till the end. To honor his legacy the Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center has started an avalanche education scholarship in his name:

“Friends of the Idaho Panhandle Avalanche Center wish to celebrate the work and life of Doug Abromeit (1948-2013) by starting an avalanche education scholarship in Doug’s name to further avalanche education and awareness here in Sandpoint, Doug’s home town, and North Idaho.”
