For ski bums, Christmas morning can be one of the best days of the ski season. Tourists stay inside and open presents while skiers and riders open lifts, finding faceshots hours before the hordes of destination skiers flood the mountain around 12pm.

Looking forward to this Sunday, skiers have reason to rejoice as moisture continues to pour in off the Pacific, leaving ski resorts across the northern rockies covered in the white stuff thanks to a northwesterly flow.” Meanwhile, the east coast and midwest continue to benefit from cold temps and steady snowfalls– giving the whole country reason to celebrate Ullr (*and Santa) this holiday season.

What else is there to say about Jackson Hole’s season thus far that hasn’t already been said. With 214″ of snowfall to-date, the Wyoming resort is at the top of our list to score Christmas day powder turns. While the models are indicating just a 50% chance of snow in the days leading up to Christmas, Jackson Hole just needs a little snow and cold temps for a proper refresh.

Along with Baker, Crystal should see cold temps and snowfall throughout the week leading up to Xmas day, giving skiers from the greater Seattle area a reason to skip the presents and unwrap powder turns instead.

Steamboat is looking at what could be a bluebird powder day on Christmas morning. Once vacationing families arrive at the mountain near lunchtime– they’ll see that the ski hill has already been tracked out by a bunch of powder hungry locals who are now drinking beers at T-Bar. POWDER TO THE PEOPLE!
