With massive amounts of freshly fallen snow across the alps avalanche danger is beginning to rear its ugly head and nowhere is that more evident that Tignes, France.

The French resort’s ski patrol triggered a massive, hard slab avalanche over the weekend that measured nearly 15 feet high in places. The avalanche occurred in a controlled setting and serves as a proper wake up call that even though it’s early season– avalanche conditions exist anywhere there is a slope covered in snow.
