“It was a split decision to go the summit and not head back down because we figured we would have a better chance of survival.” -Tommy Hendricks
Details are emerging about the harrowing story of a pair of teens who were rescued after summiting Mount of The Holy Cross in Eagle County last week. Tommy Hendricks, an 18 year old student at Coronado High School in Colorado Springs, spoke with Denver 7 and said that the summit push during a snow storm was a survival decision that lead to a cell reception and their eventual rescue. The boys made it out with just frostbite on their feet and will return to the backcountry when they can.
