New Hampshire ski area, Waterville Valley Resort, has announced that it will be undertaking it’s first expansion of the ski area in 30 years.

The expansion, dubbed the “Green Peak Expansion”, will include the cutting of 10 new trails to provide 45 new acres of skiing and riding. The new terrain will be serviced by a fixed grip chairlift.

“The expansion process has been very exciting for us internally,” said CEO of Waterville Valley Resort Chris Sununu. “There’s been a lot of hard work done by members of our team and the U.S. Forest Service to make sure this project is a success. We are especially excited to be partnering with local New Hampshire contractors for this project.”

Construction on the $2 million expansion is expected to begin this week and is scheduled to open for the 2016-2017 winter season.
