Big Tupper Ski Area near Tupper Lake, New York reported via their Facebook Page this past Wednesday that the volunteers who run the ski area have decided to close the ski area until next year. Although the decision to close was a tough one for The Adirondack Residents Intent on Saving their Economy (or ARISE), ski area officials remain optimistic about the future of Big Tupper Ski Area.

“Mother Nature has spoken and we are sorry to announce that the ARISE Board has made the difficult decision to not open Big Tupper this season. Please know that this decision did not come easily. While the weather has worked against our efforts this year, we can keep our eye to a brighter future. There are a lot of positive discussions taking place about the future operation of Big Tupper.”– Ski Big Tupper Facebook Page
