February 14, 7PM MST

POWDER WATCH ISSUED FOR THE ENTIRE SIERRA range beginning late Wednesday.  Snow may develop Wednesday evening (7500 foot snow level) with rain in the valleys of Lake Tahoe.  Models indicate heavy snow Wednesday night (Dense) with a sharp cold front due Thursday morning. Snow levels will plunge from 7500 to 4500 Thursday morning!  Snow should continue lightly (Good quality), Thursday before tapering of in the afternoon.  Total snowfall should range from 12-18 inches at many locations in the Sierra. Winds Wednesday through Thursday will be strong and create blowing and drifting snow (Upper mountain lift holds).  We expect winds to subside somewhat with the passage of the cold front on Thursday morning.

Moisture from the Sierra races towards the Tetons and Wasatch on Thursday/Friday.  Fast movement of the storm may limit snow totals in those areas however good cold air aloft may create a few surprises especially in the Wasatch (No Advisories or watches hoisted as of yet).
