“It’s Aspen,” is what one man told police on Monday evening around 2am when asked if a white substance in his nose was cocaine reports The Aspen Times.
According to Aspen Police officials, The 34-year-old resident Snowmass Village was reportedly chopping up lines of the controlled substance on a bench just outside Little Annie’s Eating House, when police arrived.
The police were alerted to the situation by the sounds of credit cards hitting the stone bench upon which the man was sitting. When they arrived at the scene, there was a line of cocaine next to the culprit’s leg and a couple of credit cars covered in the substance. When confronted about the line of cocaine, the suspect brushed the line to the ground.

Upon later inspection of his nose, officers found what appeared to be the controlled substance in his nostrils. When asked about it, the suspect replied, “of course I have cocaine up my nose,” to which he added, “it’s Aspen.” Later the man tried to dispose of a paper towel containing the cocaine, which prompted the officers to forcibly restrain him on the ground.
According to reports, a woman was sitting next to him at the time and told officers she was not involved in the consumption of cocaine. She was not arrested by the officers.
