Couldn’t find any further information on this device leading me to believe it is just a concept as of now but it does address an aspect of avalanche safety that doesn’t really get much exposure.  We can spend a lifetime gaining the knowledge of how to avoid avalanches and take measures mitigate their power once caught but we don’t really discuss how best to stay alive if you are in a worst case scenario. Perhaps a device designed to lessen chest trauma during burial and to create room for the lungs to expand is something that deserves deeper exploration.
