The snowiest place in America this winter is not high in the Rockies or even in Alaska. The snowiest place in America this season is the village of Copenhagen, New York.
More than 21 feet has fallen this winter in the tiny Upstate New York village. That’s more than any other spot in the United States as of this Friday, according to data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Copenhagen has a population of 801 and is perennially the snowiest area east of the Rockies. The town is so snowy because of lake effect snow off Lake Ontario.
