America’s tallest mountain, Denali or Mount McKinley, has shrunk by 83 feet. The last official measurement of Denali was back in 1952. At the time the mountain stood an impressive 20,320ft. But a new measurement of North America’s highest peak has the mountain standing at just 20,237ft.
The discovery was made by a team using Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar to improve maps of the area.
It is unclear whether the mountain has actually gotten smaller, if the new measuring methods are giving a more precise reading, or both.
