Ice

One from the archives:  Authorities in Chile’s Patagonia region have arrested a man for stealing five tons of ice they say he had systematically carved away from the Jorge Montt Glacier. It is being reported that his plan was to carve up the chunk of glacier ice into ice cubes to sell to swanky bars and clubs in Santiago.

Glacier ice is known to melt much slower than normal ice because of lower levels of oxygen trapped within the ice.

So whats the value of 5 tones of glacier ice? It’s reported that the ice had a street value of $6,200.
