Brad Muster, a 24-year-old Australian snowboarder, died after he removed his snowboard on the mountain and slid into a tree at Whistler. Muster was on the last day of his vacation with his girlfriend when they found themselves in an area of the resort known as the Blue Cliffs. The couple determined that the terrain was too steep for their abilities and chose to remove their snowboards and walk down. On their descent Muster slipped and slid into a tree.

Muster was airlifted to Whistler Health Care Centre before being transferred to Vancouver General Hospital, where he died of a severe head injury.
