On Tuesday night, Sebastien Boucher, a 33-year-old Canadian snowboarder, was found by members of North Shore Rescue after he had wandered out of bounds from Cypress Mountain ski area outside West Vancouver. It is now being reported that Mr. Boucher, who is a director of finance with the National Bank of Canada, will be receiving a $10,000 bill for the cost of his rescue.
Joffrey Koeman, Director of Sales & Marketing at Cypress Mountain, told Canada’s CTV that Mr. Boucher flagrantly disregarded Cypress Mountain’s boundary signs and that an example needed to be made . Mr. Koeman went on to say that the search pulled staff away from the resort’s Sky Chair, leaving the lift idle for a day.
No public comment has been made by Mr. Boucher.
