The new tram to Twin Peaks has been in the news on and off for the last few months and has hippies all over the Wasatch all fired up. I for one think that the Twin Peaks Tram is a long way from flying and honestly don’t really care if it does or does not. After hearing Bob Bonar describe the new tram, its capacity and the plan for Mary Ellen’s new lift at a meeting last Fall I am not sold on it. What I am all fired up on is two new high speed quads being installed in the next two Summers!!!
Snowbird will be upgrading the Little Cloud Lift this summer from a fixed grip double, to a high-speed quad chairlift! Think of how awesome it will be to cut that cold ass lift ride in half. This upgrade has not bee officially announced, but I have several credible sources that confirm that the new lifts have been purchased already.
Lifts? Yes, lifts! Summer 2013 will see the Gad 2 chair also get a much needed upgrade from a janky old double to a shiny new high speed quad. I have heard that both of the chairs will be run at less than full speed to keep skier traffic at a more manageable level. That is yet to be seen, but even at less than full speed these new chairs will make a big difference on powder days and crowded holiday weekends.
