Stowe Conditions update: Sunny Stowe Sunday

While our friends out west are measuring snowfall with yardsticks, the good old 12″ ruler is all we need here at Stowe. 5 – 7″ here, 2 – 3″ there, a massive pile of man-made over there and quietly the hill keeps getting better.

Crazy, short lived temperature swings that range from -15 one morning to +40 the next have flash freezed the snowpack into a solid base that is primed and ready for a good old Nor’easter to come spinning up the eastern seaboard. The woods and steep lines are thin, but skiable with copious amounts of cold packed powder and feather light fresh lines available to those who are looking around.

Yes, that is rain pounding on my roof top right now.  Not to worry, it’s just La Nina locking in the last round of snow and setting us up for the goodness that is yet to come.
