Many interior British Columbia ski resorts are fully opening for the season. Today Whitewater Ski Resort officially opened with all lifts running. Kicking Horse Mountain Resort begins daily operations today, with about 75 percent of the mountain’s terrain available for skiing and riding. Kimberly Alpine Resort will have a second preview weekend Dec. 10-11 (with mos of the Extreme Dream Zone open today), and Panorama Mountain Village officially opens today as well.
Aside from preview days and a handful of lifts being open prior to today at these resorts, December 9, 2011 seems to be a good day to ski or board in the interior.
Whitewater Ski Resort All lifts will run, including the Glory Chair. 135.0 cm / 53.1in base and no new snow.
Kimberley Alpine Resort is doing a second preview weekend Dec. 10-11. With the addition of the Tamarack Chair and Owl T-bar running this weekend, Kimberley will have all of its lifts operating. The resort’s official season opening will be Dec. 16. Now there is 112cm / 44in. snow pack and no new snow.
Panorama Mountain Village has been running one lift to access six runs since Monday. But on Friday, Dec. 9, the resort will open more lifts and terrain for the official opening day. All front side runs will be open with the Summit Quad, Mile One Quad, Champagne Express, Toby Chair, beginner carpets and the Silver Platter in operation. The Village Gondola will also operate to connect the Upper and Lower Village. Panorama has an 84cm / 33in base and trace amounts of new snow.
