Things are looking up in Telluride with about 15 new inches of snow over the past few days, added terrain in the Chair 5 zone, and some beautiful sunny days ahead. After a rough start to the season with pretty much one trail open for the first two Saturdays, fresh snow and continued snowmaking opened Chairs 5 & 6 this past Sunday expanding much needed terrain.
Persistent snow over the weekend left the resort with about 15 inches of accumulation by yesterday morning and some great conditions and skiing the past few days. It feels great to ski soft snow, steeper terrain, and longer runs again.
It’s hard to complain about the sunny days ahead, but hopefully we will see some more storms roll through soon to continue the terrain openings. Can’t wait to get up on Chair 14!
Next week will see the return of the World Cup Snowboardcross to Telluride, and course work is full-on right now. Many of the athletes are arriving already and training on the Lower Misty Maiden course. Even the US Skiercross athletes are here as well! More details on the World Cup coming next week…
