Whistler Blackcomb, Mike D

I’m addicted to this Embed idea. Maybe it’s because I get to live vicariously through Mike Douglas, or maybe it’s because I’m always on Twitter and #whistlerembedded fills up my timeline…whatever the reason I’m hooked (and not to mention extremely jealous of Mike D). I mean seriously how fun would it be to ski tour up your home resort and spend six days and six nights in your local ski patrol hut, then when it’s time to ski you you have a avalanche expert letting you throw bombs, and a helicopter.  Mike’s “Expedition” is half over and I can’t wait to see what he’s got planned for the last three days.

From Embedded.WhistlerBlackcomb.com: With storm clouds swirling and the smell of winter in the air, pro skier Mike Douglas kissed his family good-bye, shouldered skis and camera bag and embarked on a never–before assignment to stand watch on the peak of Whistler Mountain for the arrival of winter. Armed with only his computer, his camera and his sleeping bag, the “Godfather of Freeskiing” documents the Inside Story of Whistler Blackcomb in the days before Opening.

Day 1

Day one. Mike starts off the video describing patience and how skiers cope with shoulder season in Whistler. He continues by letting us know that he just got back from Maui… rough life. (nice match cut mike)

Day 2

On day two Mike D meets up with avalanche forecaster/expert Anton Horvath and gets ski powder & throw bombs. Mike gets the inside story on what to expect from La Nina this season and declares ski season “ready” for shredy

Day 3

Day three happens to be Mike Douglas’ Birthday so he hops in a heli with Whsitler Heli-Skiing as they prepare for the first heli-skiers. Mike also enjoys the most expensive birthday cake in Whistler. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
