Looking down the barrel in San Francisco, CA

The best surfers in the world were in town for the Rip Curl Pro Search ASP World Tour stop this past week.  After the comp (which was won by 17 year old Gabriel Modena from Brazil and Kelly Slater clinched his 11th title), “the boys” of the tour had some down time to paddle out and get some gorgeous barrels in “The City.”

I think all the surfers in San Francisco have been waiting for this.  Waiting for “the boys” to come out and rip our waves in good conditions in conditions good enough to be in a surf movie.  Well, that day has come.

How many barrels have you caught at Ocean Beach?  These guy are racking up 4 or 5+ a session.

Looking down the barrel in San Francisco, CA

It’s pretty sweet to have a city like San Francisco with all it’s live music, art, culture, architecture, parties, technology, urbanity, and for it to have a raging wilderness full of Great Whites, Blue Whales, Dolphins, Sting Rays, Stripped Bass, Puffins, every kinda shore bird, AND perfect barrels right in town.

Yep, you are correct “boys”, San Francisco doesn’t suck.
