Boreal is the First Ski Resort in California to Open for the 2011-2012 Ski Season | Scheduled Re-Opening for this Friday, November 4th, 2011

Boreal wins the “race” again. They were the first ski resort in California to open and offer lift-serviced skiing and riding for the 2011-2012 winter season this past weekend. The one run they opened was on 100% artificial snow. Take that east coast (who coincidentally got hammered with snow this past weekend).

Boreal is closed now, no surprise there, but they are planning to open back up this Friday, November 4th, 2011.

The reports are that the one open run was crowded and full of jib hits from top to bottom. Most people were stoked, many skipped the lift lines and walked up to ride back down and hit as many features as possible.

According to Boreal Marketing Director Jon Slaughter,“We pumped approximately 2.8 million gallons of water on to the mountain in preparation for opening day.” Uhhh, is that cool? We’re not so sure, but it sounds like the few hundred that showed up to shred Boreal were stoked on the WROD (White Ribbon of Death).
