For the last ten plus years there has really only been one killer late night spot to get a burrito in Salt Lake City. That place was Moca Salsa. Located on 3300 South just a little West of the REI, Milo and Salty Peaks lies a bastion of 24 hour Mexican food. That place is now called Hector’s Mexican Food.

Why the change?

Moca Salsa

Well the owners of the new Hector’s are the same folks that owned and ran Moca Salsa, but they had been licensing the name from another Mexican restaurant. That license expired and instead of renewing and paying to be confused with some other place of lower quality they changed it good old Hector’s. Hector is actually one of the owners, so it is fully legit.

Moca Salsa Burrito

Plain, Simple and Delicious

As for the food, it also has not changed at all. They still have the same soft and tasty tortillas wrapped around about 25 different varieties of burritos. There are other things on the menu, but why waste your time on anything other than a burrito? Some of my favorites are the Carnitas, the Machaca and the Mixed. They are open 24 hours everyday except Sunday. Like most other Mexi joints in SLC they are closed all day on Sunday. Next time you are driving back to your place late night swing by and hit them up. The long drive thru line is worth it everytime!
