The face has been selected, the boundaries have been drawn, and the snow is falling for the second stop on the Subaru Freeskiing World Tour!
Athletes have arrived in Los Andes Chile in preparation for The North Face Chilean Freeskiing Championships and things are shaping up to be pretty damn big! The Venue here at Ski Arpa is definitely among the largest and most exposed sustained pitches on which the Freeskiing World Tour has selected to hold an event.
Athlete inspection is slated for tomorrow conditions permitting. Ski Arpa was inaccessible today due to winter weather conditions. The road to Portillo was also closed today and snow continues to fall on the mountain.
There was even snow in Santiago this morning and that just about NEVER happens!
It’s supposed to clear up heading into the weekend and if the snowpack is stable this event should be underway on Saturday!
It’s currently raining in Los Andes, the town nearest the Ski Arpa Cat Skiing operation. The base of the mountain (2,700 meters) is roughly 2,000 meters higher than the city of Los Andes and I think it’s safe to say the venue is getting dumped on!
