Condition reports all over South America have been less than ideal lately. We skied in the rain here at Catedral for a few days but once we were able to get up high it was a different story. We’ve got Pow!
Nubes chair has remained closed since the storm but will likely open tomorrow. Much of the inbounds terrain has been skied out, warmed up, frozen, and dusted on, but if you go for a short hike to one of the adjacent backcountry zones like La Lguna (see photos) the snow is about as good as you could ask for right now.
There was sun and good visibility in the morning but a few clouds rolled in and it was spotty this afternoon.
But if you were patient today you could ski some great snow in “good” light and there’s a lot to be said for that right now. The temps are slated to stay cold and the winds appear to be low in the forecast for the next few days which means we might have more time to enjoy this terrain with good conditions seeing as hardly anybody else gets back here.
It looks like Catedral is gonna hold snow for a few days and possibly get more early this week but I have learned not to trust the forecast too much down here. Stay tuned for video and continued conditions updates.
